Five Setting Strips Done!

I have been making progress on the pieces for my ...

My fifth setting strip is in this fun

Mesh and Bobble Stitch Pattern @ Daisy Farm Crafts

There is a

Mesh and Bobble Stitch DFC Video Tutorial Here

I made my own variation of the sample stitch using my yarn colors

to the size needed for my setting strips.

After completing the needed fifth setting stripe ...

I then went back to figure out how to set my small granny squares

 into similar size setting strips.

To do this, I am bordering ...

I Like Thursday # 129 ~ Evening Time from Life in the Scrapatch

 Welcome to I Like Thursday!

To my readers and friends @

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

I hope you have had a lovely day.

Mine has been mixed.

It has been rainy and cold and spring has gone back into hiding.

My internet was down all day despite my best efforts to fix.

Mr Scrapatch came home and finally got it up and running again.

I am happy my computer is computing again.

In truth, my week has been mixed.

My little Maestro, who was enjoying my green quilts just last week

had to go to the vet again ...

Crochet Today ~ Circle to Square Granny Squares from Life in the Scrapatch

Four Circle to Square Granny Blocks for my

To make these blocks Nutmeg and I followed this free tutorial:

Circle to Square Granny Square @ Just Be Crafty

Where you will also find this

Circle to Square Video Tutorial @ Just Be Crafty

Like my Solid Granny Square Blocks

I used up small leftover balls of yarn

and added more colors after making the first circle to square block.

Since I wanted my blocks to be 5 inches square,

I stopped at Round 5 so my blocks are smaller than the ones in the tutorial.

My four Circle ...

Square Block 16 is Done ~ Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 9 from Life in the Scrapatch

Stitch Sew & Show ~ 2022 ~ Week 9

Ooopps!

Making amends.

I was away from my computer most of the day yesterday

and I forgot to post my linky party!

 Block 16 for my

is done.

For this block I started and ended with the light gray yarn

and also use this to frame the center of the block.

I am planning to use the light gray for the border

and consider it the main color of the afghan.

I am loving this color.

Slow Sunday Stitching ~ Wave Stitch Crochet Square from Life in the Scrapatch

It has been a cold and snowy weekend,
a good time to stay in and stitch with a cuddly lap cat.

We had 8-9 inches of snow on Friday and it has not melted much
 due to freezing temperatures.
Outside right now we are having a "snow squall." If you are from a warm climate and do not know what this is, it means that there will not be much snow but it is falling fast and furiously and the wind is blowing it around so that visibility is very low. If we were driving, it would be best to ...

Crochet Square 14 ~ Stitched and Blocked from Life in the Scrapatch

Block 14 worked up quickly for my

 Squares Sampler Crochet Blocks

This the second block in this bobble stitch pattern for

7th Pattern Stitch @ The Inspired Wren Crochet Along.

This block is now drying on my blocking board overnight.

It measured very close to 12" but I block all my blocks so they will

stitch together well when it comes tome to assemble my afghan.

In my last post I said I would talk a little about the adjustments I have made because I am using

which is worsted weight yarn.

Crochet Squares Sampler Progress ~ Block 13 Reimagined from Life in the Scrapatch

Here is Block 13 for my

 Squares Sampler Crochet Blocks

This is a improv of the original pattern:

7th Pattern Stitch @ The Inspired Wren Crochet Along,

which is an easy and fun bobble stitch.

Originally, I had planned to make this block in a solid pink.

When I Started Here ~ Squares Sampler Afghan,

I had only one skein of each color yarn in my small yarn stash which was several years old.

After I decided on my colors, I needed to find more yarn,

I had to purchase more yarn and, of course, I could not get the same dye ...

Pattern Stitch 6 ~ Moss Stitch/Single Crochet Stripes.

I made a this fun ziggy-zaggy striped block using all my main colors.

All the blocks call for a round of single crochet around ...

My Crochet Muse Has Awakened from Life in the Scrapatch

It was bound to happen.

As I have regained my confidence in my crochet skills,

it is time to get creative.

I am playing with the color and pattern.

I made Block 11 with no variation from the pattern instructions:

Well, I did find my sides were straighter and my turns crisper by

crocheting 3 chains, rather than two, when turning my moss stitch rows.

I do not consider this being creative.

I consider it making the pattern work better for me.

You can see the squareness of my turns in this ...

Squares Sampler Crochet ~ Block # 11 Progress from Life in the Scrapatch

Block 11 for my Squares Sampler Afghan is in progress.

Today was another "spring is coming" day in the scrapatch and I opened the window for awhile this afternoon, which helped to clear the paint fumes. We are putting a new coat of paint on the bedroom walls.  Home improvement photos soon. Today was a rare Monday holiday for Mr. Scrapatch so we also spent some time out and about and cooking and just enjoying the day.

This pattern stitch calls for alternating two stitches:

Pattern Stitch 6 ~ Moss Stitch/Single Crochet Stripes

I have done the moss stitch before ...

Crocheting Along ~ Block 9 Done from Life in the Scrapatch

 Block 9 stitched up quickly.

This is an easy shell pattern that is quick to crochet and fun to do.

The 5th Pattern Stitch of the

Afghan Sampler Crochet SAL

While Block 9 is drying on my blocking board ...

I am working on the second block in this pattern stitch.

The blocks word up quickly as they are composed of rows of 5 Double Crochet shells with Single Crochets between the shells. The alternating rows have the shells worked into the single crochet in the preceding row.  This make a lovely fan stitch.

I am working on the blocks while ...

Squares Sampler Crochet Afghan ~ Square 6 is Done! from Life in the Scrapatch

My two squares are done for the third pattern stitch in my

The third pattern stitch in the crochet sampler can be found

3rd Pattern Stitch Here @ The Inspired Wren

The original pattern source is for a free baby blanket pattern

Bubbles Baby Blanket Pattern @ Ravelry

This crochet stitch looks more like a "half shell" than a "bubble" to me,

but it is a fun to do and very pretty crochet pattern.

When I finished the pattern for the first square in this pattern Here

before adding the single crochet border all around the block, the sides of my block ...

I Like Thursday # 122 ~ Trying Something New from Life in the Scrapatch

Welcome to I Like Thursday with my friends at

I like to try new things, so I have set aside my insecurities about my artistic abilities and am trying this

I have seen crayon tinting of quilt blocks before but was afraid to try it.

For my first attempt at this technique,

I am working on the the block for Day 1.

The free pattern download may be found here:

It seems to be working.

I decided to use ...

Crocheting Along from Life in the Scrapatch

I have finished the center of square five which is Bubble Baby stitch square one

for my Sampler Squares Crochet Afghan

I still have to put the single crochet edges stitches all the way around this block.

I had a bit of difficulty with the fact that the edges of the row are scalloped.

I kept wanting to add an extra bubble at the end of the rows to make it look even.

The border stitches will hopefully make the sides of my block straight.

I am not sure I have done this stitch exactly the same as in the ...

Snow ~ Time To Crochet from Life in the Scrapatch

Let it snow; let it snow; let it snow.

It has started snowing here.

The forecast is for blizzard conditions.

I think there is a fancy new name for this storm

but here in New England we just call it a Nor'easter

a few feet of snow in windy whiteout conditions.

I have quilts. I have batteries. I have yarn.

The pretty yarn above arrived today.

It is the second month kit for the next three rows of my

Christmas Candy Afghan ~ Started Here

I am tempted to drop everything and start Stripe 4.

Tonight, I am persevering with ...
